Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future.
The Board places social responsibility at the heart of everything that we do. There are many things that the Company can feel justifiably proud of:
• We transform people’s lives through building and selling high-quality, low-cost homes
• We regenerate once-neglected areas into thriving communities
• We build homes for key workers
• We sell mostly to young, first time buyers
• We are a real Living Wage employer
Watch Our Sustainability Story
We are delighted to share with you our sustainability story.
It’s compelling and one that we are not only very proud of but shows how Gleeson Homes is 100% aligned to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 11 and its first target of “safe affordable housing for everyone”.
Here’s our introduction – meeting the needs of the present without compromising future generations
Having a sustainable business means having the right people in the right roles and ensuring that they are supported, trained and working in a safe and enjoyable environment. We invest heavily in our people to help them become the best version of themselves.
Our people play a major part in the success of Gleeson and its long term sustainability.
We transform derelict, brownfield land in areas of deprivations that are in need of regeneration into thriving communities where young first time buyers on low to average incomes want to live.
We contribute to many local initiatives and also get involved with schools and grass root sports team to support them financially.
90% of our customers recommend Gleeson.
We recognise that housebuilding can have a negative impact on the environment but are doing all we can to mitigate this. 98% of our waste is diverted from landfill and we aim for this to be 100%. We use sustainable products, and plant and are reducing annually our CO2 emissions.
The sum up
Gleeson’s approach to sustainability has been recognised and we have been awarded the most sustainable UK business at the National PLC Awards. Sustainability is a never ending journey and we are working as a team to reach our goals

Homeownership is particularly significant for Tania, as 10 years ago she was homeless and living on the streets of York.
Lauren and Matt
After spending the last two years renting a one-bedroom flat, with no parking or garden. Lauren and Matt were keen to get onto the property ladder but never imagined they would be able to own a three-bedroom detached home, until they found Gleeson.
Brad and Charmaine
Brad and Charmaine were renting a flat in Manchester and saving up ready to go to Thailand, but when lockdown hit they realised how much they wanted to buy a house with a garden and their holiday was cancelled.
